Here at Piano Lessons Cardiff, we encourage all students to immerse themselves in the vibrant musical culture on offer in the city. Not only have many great artists arisen from Cardiff, but many come to visit as well. With a wealth of music venues on offer, students have the opportunity to see both national and up-and-coming artists in Cardiff. Whether you love the roaring atmosphere and large crowds in an arena, or you prefer the intimate setting of a bar, Cardiff has all the venues to suit your taste. At Piano Lessons Cardiff, we believe these live performances to be a profoundly influential experience, both introducing new musical styles to our students, and inspiring them to aim for such performances in their own musical career.

Therefore, we have compiled a list right here of five of the top venues in Cardiff, that we believe are definitely worth a visit.

Motorpoint Arena Cardiff

The Motorpoint Arena is one of the larger venues in Cardiff, and has been showcasing some of the top musicians for the past eighteen years. It first opened with a performance by Wales' own Dame Shirley Bassey in 1993. Since then, it has hosted such greats as The Killers, Oasis, Kings of Leon, and Lady Gaga, to name but a few. As one of Cardiff’s largest exhibition venues, this arena can hold thousands of fans, and provides the perfect atmosphere for roaring crowds and extravagant performances. Not only is this venue famous for hosting music performances, but it is also renowned for its comedy and sports events too. With a restaurant on-site, this venue certainly caters for your every need!

Since then, it has been transformed into a family business offering a welcoming and personal environment to music-goers. This multi-functional entertainment venue hosts a range of events, such as that of Wedding Receptions, Live Music Events, and Fashion Shows. Already planned for performances this year are the likes of the English rock band, the Levellers and tribute acts for AC/DC and ZZ Top. This venue is handily located right in the centre of Mount Stuart Square, off Old James Street, within walking distance of various hotels and a train station.

Cardiff University Student’s Union is comprised of four music venues: Solus, Great Hall, CF10, and The Taf. Great Hall is the biggest of the four venues, and holds up to 1,500 audience members but has the dual ability to function as a more intimate setting, holding 500, when rearranged as Great Hall 2. Solus can accommodate 1000 people and boasts 3 bars, and mainly hosts club nights. CF10 on the other hand, offers the most intimate setting of the four, with the capacity for only 350 people. Finally, The Taf offers food and drinks and is open 7 days a week, providing the perfect place to begin or end any night out.
